I’d really love to change the width and color of my sidebar and content area. Also, how would I go about centering my logo.
Thanks!!!
May 24, 2014 at 11:51 #19682Bill RobbinsModeratorHello Elan,
Thank you for your business first of all. Great questions too. Here’s how you can make those changes.
Width and Color
- Go to the Theme Options page and select the Styling tab.
- Scroll down to the Custom CSS box and paste this:
#content, #sidebar .widget, div#sidebar nav a, div#sidebar nav a:visited { color: #ffffff; background-color: transparent; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.84); } @media only screen and (min-width: 1024px) { #content { width: 650px; } #sidebar { width: 220px; } }
- The top style there will set the background color and text color of the content area and the sidebar. You can change the rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.84) to a different color to change the background and the #ffffff to change the text color. In order to have the background be semi-transparent, you'll need to use a RGBA color. If you don't mind it being opaque, you can switch to a hex color there.
- The second set of styles adjusts the widths of the content area and the sidebar when viewed in a browser with a window larger than 1024 pixels wide. You can adjust those a bit to increase/decrease the sizes of those areas there.
- Update your settings.
That should change the colors and sizes for you.
Center Logo
You can center the logo too. Just add this to the Custom CSS too:#logo, #text-logo { text-align: center; }
and that should do it for you.
If you have any questions or trouble, let me know.
Have a great weekend,

May 28, 2014 at 02:11 #19730Elan AkinParticipantI updated the theme (created a new theme) and everything is working now…. except the background image slideshow. Thanks!
May 28, 2014 at 08:02 #19732Bill RobbinsModeratorElan,
Glad you were able to get the new sizes to work for you. I took a quick look this morning and it appears that the slideshow is working as well. With the updated version of the theme, you won’t typically need the jQuery update plugin either so you should be able to disable that as well.
If you run into any trouble, let me know.
Thanks,

Thanks in advance for all your help!

I took a look this morning at the site and it appears that there are three lightbox scripts that are being loaded even with the one that’s included with the theme is disabled. There’s a javascript conflict someplace between the lightbox and the other scripts being loaded via plugins.
If you’d like to get to the bottom of it, here’s how. Disable all your plugins. Then turn back on the theme’s lightbox. Visit a page on your site where you’re using the lightbox. Clear out your browser’s cache and refresh the page. Make sure everything works there.
Then turn the plugins on, one by one, checking to see when everything stops working. At that point, we’ll know where the trouble is.
Let me know when you find that spot and we’ll go from there.
Thanks,

I’m glad you were able to track down the source of the trouble. If you need anything else, just let me know.
