background image and top header image

Hi Bill,
I am trying to replace background with readymade image into own image.
I have tried to upload image size is about 2000x 1800, i guess it is too big right?
Canyou please advise me the right size and the setting (I have uploaded Apprearance > Background) but it doesn’t appear the image I wanted.

i also wanted to change the header (gradient black to light grey) into other other or graphis, can I do that?

Ben,

The easiest way to tackle the header background image would be to update to the most recent version of the theme (2.0.0 at this time). I added an uploader for a new header image to the theme to make that easier on people who would like to change it. It also has a better background image editor.

For the background size, I do think 2000 pixels wide would be a good idea so people using large monitors don’t see the image end. You could probably cut the height to 1200 pixels or so if you wanted to.

There’s a full-screen background image plugin you can try at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-full-screen-background-image/ that will let you add a background image that scales to fit the screen size. That might be an option for you too.
