But a quick PS – I do wish there was a way to put the two badges side by side instead of one above the other. But inserting a table in the footer_left wreaks havoc. I admit I’m shaky on how to layout tabled images/links in CSS. Any thoughts?

    Thanks again!

Whoops. I take that back. I found a missing / in one of the br brackets. All good now!

Hmmmm… Better on the font, but now footer_right is lining up with the bottom of the footer instead of the top. This was the issue I had earlier when I tried to place the images in the footer_left.

    Ideas?

    Thanks!

Yup. New image moves fine below the TA badge without that curly quote, but now my fonts in the right of the footer are all scaling down. Any idea why? I’d like the email address link and the phone number to be about size 5, and the others size 4. No go. The top two look like 12pt and the others like 10pt.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Well, knock me flat! I totally missed that curly quote, and you’re right–that fixed the image issue.

The TA badge widget really does irritate me, though, because it CRAWLS while loading and sometimes doesn’t finish loading. I am so tempted to take a screen shot of the actual badge in TA, then just put that up with a link to the restaurant’s review page — but I’m sure that probably violates some obscure T&Cs on TA. 😛

Is there any way I can move that new image (Top Five badge) from footer right to footer left below the TA badge without having scripting/div issues? I may just try it again now that the curly quote issue is fixed, but the first time I did it, it forced the contact info in the right side of the footer to display with a huge blank space above it…..

Thanks much for the fast help!

    Cheers,

Thanks very much, Bill! I swapped the code, and now the hover feature is gone, but the titles don’t load below the images. When you first load the page, the titles show where the images will be, but once the page has loaded, the images are there…but no titles. What am I missing?

I’d like to update to the newest Bottega if I can do it without losing my theme customizations. Can you tell me which files have been updated, and then I can just upload those? Or do I just need to go whole-hog, then put back in my customizations?

    Thanks again!

Update: I found that if I cropped all the images to match the thumbnail size, they would display correctly. However, the page is still loading with an invisible sidebar. I’d like to get rid of that so the text will load correctly across the entire page.

    Thanks!

Whoops. I see it deleted the code I typed in. I meant to say I set the page to “page-full” without it doing anything….

Thanks! I’ve added the custom CSS and will grab an Android phone to test ASAP.

Righto. Will give a couple of different options a try and see what happens. Many, many thanks for help above and beyond the call of duty — and for a totally gorgeous, easy-to-use theme that my client loves.

Had to refresh the permalinks to get the menus working again, but that’s all fine now.

Here’s my dilemma, though. Do I reassign the domains again to point to http://thetalismanrestaurant.com/main? Because if you go to http://thetalismanrestaurant.com or talismanrestaurant.com, you get a blank page. I know Google doesn’t like automatic redirects, so I prefer to simply tell the domains to point to the WordPress install. After the mess I’ve been through in the past two hours, I’m leery of doing that, though.

Is there another option that Google won’t mark with a red flag?

    Thanks,
    Jennie

Okay, now I am totally confused — I just clicked my own link (above) for the heck of it, and up comes the site all find and dandy with images in place and all!

Now this is AFTER I’ve just “unassigned” both domains from CPanel and reassigned them to point at the main public_html/thetalismanrestaurant

EH? Did I perhaps have a problem of multiple redirects canceling each other out or something? I’ve never heard of such a thing, but here we are!

Scratching my head and muttering… After 15 years of doing HTML, XHTML, CSS and CSS-5, you would think nothing could surprise me. But this takes the cake!

Thanks for all the help. I’m afraid to mess with anything now that it’s working again!

    Warmly,
    Jennie

That’s probably because I’ve just unassigned both domains (talismanrestaurant.com and thetalismanrestaurant.com) so I can point them at the root directory, which has a “Pardon Our Dust” message so people don’t go to the messed up WP install. I truly cannot figure out what happened. I literally just repointed both domains at thetalismanrestaurant.com/main once I had the Bottega upgrade ready to roll. But when I did that, the whole thing fell apart, and now I have no structure to the site–just a list of links and broken images. It really looks like the index.php is missing from /main, but it’s there and correct.

Can’t get BlueHost to answer, so I’m putting in a support ticket and calling it a night. If you have any brain waves, I’d be glad to hear what you think!

    All the best,

Just checked, and both are correct. Both point to http://thetalismanrestaurant.com/main. ???

Guess I’ll get on chat with BlueHost and see what they can tell me. I’m totally at a loss!

    Thanks,

Thing is, the site has always been installed in /main. I didn’t move the installation or change the URLs for home or site URL in Settings. Really, really confusing. I’ll go in and try your fix and see what happens. Changing the functions.php file didn’t help….

Thanks! Will let you know what happens.

PS – I also cannot login to wp-admin. Going to http://thetalismanrestaurant.com/main/wp-admin brings up a 404 Not Found page. But when I look into the directories through FTP, everything is still there. Really weird.

Sorry…I meant the top-level items (which are already red) — only the last two have the hover color. The others just stay red. I don’t mind the drop-down hover color.

    Thanks!

Yup. I had checked the plugin’s settings and didn’t see anything odd, but I took a deeper look under Settings/Sharing and found that sharing was turned on for menu items (I honestly don’t remember doing that–crazy). Now I’ve turned it off, so problem is solved.

    Many thanks!

We had a fabulous photographer in last month who just did a stellar job. Marry that to your excellent theme, and the results can’t help but look great!

    Many thanks!

Thanks for the hand-holding. I’m still a bit leery of making major changes to CSS when I’m not sure what points to what in a theme!

The sub-menu overflow is now showing up nicely. Perfect.

The parchment image is now behind all the menu sub-pages, which is great. If I want to add the parchment background to all pages throughout, do I change .page-template-page-full-php #page to show the image URL? (Ditto page-staff-php, etc.) Not sure if the chef wants that, but just in case….

    Thanks again!

Hmmm… Okay, I changed to link to image URL, but the lightbox gallery feature doesn’t work, even though it is set to “yes” under the Identity tab in Theme Options. Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

Ah ha! That clears it up nicely. I did turn on light box, but I didn’t see it doing anything. I’ll go make sure I’ve set all the images to point to file URL.

    Thanks!

Thanks, Bill. The first step was a cinch, and the menu text is now the right color. But the second step didn’t work except at http://www.thetalismanrestaurant.com/main/menus/. That page has the background image, but none of the other menu sub-pages (“Starters,” “Salads,” etc.) does. Chef also wants that parchment to appear on ALL page backgrounds–posts, info pages, etc.

Finally, the top menu bar’s last drop-down menu (“What’s On?”) chops off at the edge instead of showing the full text. Is this due to the responsive nature of the theme or something else? I definitely want to make sure the drop-down items are readable.

    Thanks for the fast support!

    Warm regards,

So far, everything is running smoothly…except that I have amnesia on how I fixed the menu tab colors the last time around! Basically, my menu bar is invisible. Options only appear when I hover over them. Changing the font/button colors in “Styling” doesn’t help. For the life of me, I can’t remember what I did last time to fix this. I’m sure I edited something in a PHP file. Do you mind taking a look at http://thetalismanrestaurant.com/main to see? Any direction is greatly appreciated!

All my other tweaks are in place, so I just have to upload all the new sliders from our photographer, and I have one request from the chef that you can probably help me with. He wants the content background to be a parchment texture rather than white. Bottega doesn’t give me the option to upload a background image for the content area–only for the background around the main wrap box of the site itself. Any way I can change the theme to allow me to upload a background image tile for content? If not, I’ll just go with a parchment-style color, but I know the chef would love to see a texture that looks like the restaurant’s real menus, which are cream linen paper.

    Thanks much!

    Jennie
