Steven BillParticipant
Ha! I can’t believe I missed that. Sheesh. I will get back to you on the image. Stay tuned!
Steven BillParticipantHi Bill – I see it sort of works. But for instance the mouse over on the FB is still green. Know why that might be?
Steven BillParticipantYeah that’s not the issue – I was intentionally putting that top menu up there to see the difference. On mine, it showed it as being formatted. A mouse over the FB icon turned it blue, green with Twitter mouse over, the submenu was white, etc. Whereas the same menu in the template didn’t format properly at all. However, I see now that the menu in the template does seem to be correct. I’ll have to fool around with the formatting to see if it “sticks” and I’ll let you know.
So you didn’t do anything else except remove the Injection one?
Steven BillParticipantThat’s right. If you look under the ubermenu settings, you can enable that Injection Testing thing and it basically places the menu at the top of your page – showing you what it would look like if the theme didn’t interfere. So by having it enabled, I know it isn’t working properly in the theme itself.
Steven BillParticipantYeah they seem to – but it’s strange b/cu I can get the menu to show up at the top of the page in that Injection Testing thing, just not in the theme itself. I’m definitely open to suggestions here.
Thanks,

I believe I’m placing it in the child theme. Which is what supposed to do yes? I copied the include folder into child theme and just edited the menu.php file. Is that not ok?
Steven BillParticipantHi Bill,
3. To move the files do I do this via FTP then? And it looks like I would need to make changes to the include folder as I’m adjusting the images.php file in that folder. The rest of these answers are great – was able to make the appropriate changes. Thanks!
Steven BillParticipantOkay great – things are cooking now. I still need to master the Mega Menu but we’re getting somewhere here.
1. Somehow I removed my logo via CSS I think. I have no idea how I did this. I can display a text logo but not an image. I’m seeing CSS is a powerful tool! Any idea where this might have gone?!
2. Also, what would you say is the optimal size for my images now? 960×620 isn’t since I’ve increased my size. It’s hard to know what size I ought to be making things.
3. When I edit a file like archive-staff.php – will that not update to the original when I update the theme down the road?
4. Also, I notice that my podcasts no longer have images behind them on the archives page. Where did I mess that up? Was that somehow connected to the staff archive page?
5. Now I don’t know if this has anything to do with your theme, but the menu (Mega Menu) doesn’t show up on the Upcoming Events page. Do you know why this might be?
Again, your prompt responses have been awesome and greatly appreciated. Thanks a million for this!
Steven BillParticipantBill, when I went to change the archive-staff.php, I had no problems. However, when I went to change taxonomy-staff-group.php all that it had on it was this:
<?php get_template_part( 'archive-staff' ); ?>
So what do I need to change there? If anything?
Steven BillParticipantHi Bill,
Thanks again for your response. I need to do some more work on this but essentially when I created the child theme I seemed to have lost all of my settings? And then when I went to put them back in, my slider didn’t widen.
Additionally, my lower widget is now wider but the 4th widget goes down below. How can I adjust it so that it would stay on the same level?
I’ll have more questions, no doubt. BUt thanks for getting to these first.
Cheers,
SteveSteven BillParticipantHmm. strange. I am using Chrome – latest version. I see it works fine with Safari. Oh well, not a huge deal. If I were to set the default size to be larger, tho, where would I adjust that?
Steven BillParticipantThis reply has been marked as private.Steven BillParticipantI think this will work. Thanks Bill.
Is there a way to get the “full screen” option in the corner of a YouTube video? Lightbox doesn’t show it by default.
Steven BillParticipantHi Bill,
Okay, this is good. But take a look at http://www.grassrootschurch.info/about/staff/ – each of the profile pics are 438px x 465px and yet they do not line up with each other visually. You’ll see what I mean when you check it out. But if not, I’ve attached a print screen to show you.
Also, let’s say I didn’t want to make the profiles clickable – how could I turn that off? And remove the “Read more” and just have all the bio info show up on this page. Is that possible?
Also, is it possible to display staff according to the staff type they’re in? I.e. I’d like to just set up subpages of staff into the different types and have them go directly there. Let me know if this is something we can accomplish.
And one more thing on this staff bio – any way I might be able to add little | between Facebook Twitter and Email? So like this: (807) 630-9176 | Email | Twitter | Facebook
I guess if I were to remove the “Read More” I could just do it manually. But let me know what you think.
Thanks again Bill for your prompt responses. Really appreciate this!
stevePS – I changed the images.php to be: add_image_size(‘portrait-small’, 400, 465, true);
Another question: If I extend the width of the sheet, should I also extend the width of the slider?Attachments:
Steven BillParticipantWait, what about an option where the video is just an image and when you click it a lightbox opens with the video in it? Is that doable?
Steven BillParticipantHey Bill – appreciate the prompt response. Thanks for looking into this for me. You’re right – the Hide widget click approach isn’t ideal. And in fact it doesn’t work for me either. Not sure why that might be.
The other key thing would be to have the slideshow stop when the vid is playing. And I don’t know if that’s possible either.
If you find anything else, please let me know. Again, appreciate you looking into this for me. And if you need access to the admin side, let me know.
Thanks,
Steve
