    Hi Bill,

This doesn’t pertain to the Forward theme, but you’ve been very helpful on a variety of topics. As site administrator, I have a nice user acknowledgment on the admin menu bar at the top of the site. It has a friendly “Howdy, <username>” with my avatar. You can pull down username, edit profile, and logout.

How can I get this kind of thing on my site? Thanks for the help.

    Pete

    Hi Pete,

The widget here in our support site is part of the bbPress forum plugin that’s running. When you’re not logged in, it’ll show a log in form. When you are, it’ll show your name and gravatar.

There are a good many login widgets that typically work in a similar way. I haven’t tried any personally in about three years so I’m out of recommendations based on experience. I wouldn’t go with bbPress just for the widget unless you’re planning on adding a forum to your site.

    Take care,
    Bill
