Turning off a sidebar widget for a certain page

Is there an easy way to turn off a sidebar widget for a selected page.

Good question. There is a plugin called Jetpack that has quite a few “modules” that do various things. One of the modules is for widget visibility. You can use that to set when a widget can be seen or not seen. That may be the easiest option.

Another option is to use a plugin called Content Aware Sidebars. It lets you create new sidebar areas and then specify where they are visible on your site.
