Is it possible to take one individual category and assign just that category a separate sidebar. such as the press side bar (will not be using that category)?

    Thank you again

    Dan,

You might find a plugin called Widget Logic helpful. It adds a box that supports WordPress’ built in conditional logic so you can specify when the widget appears.

Here’s how it can work. You could create a widget and place it in the post sidebar. Then in the “Widget Logic” blank you type something like this:

    is_category('Category Name')

and save your changes. You just need to replace the Category Name with the exact name of your category (you can also use the slug, or category id number too).

That will cause the widget to only be displayed in that category. For that to work with the category, you’ll still have to place the widget in the post sidebar since the others are not displayed anyway.

I hope that helps out. If you have any questions, let me know,
    Bill
