Hi Bill. Let’s pretend it’s not me again, eh?

So I created some invite cards for our upcoming series with the url on it reading http://www.gracewaynesboro.com/overcome.

I’ve since decided to incorporate video and podcast, and as such have created a new series, making the landing page that I want http://www.gracewaynesboro.com/series/overcome.

Is there any way that I can tweak things so that people entering the former URL automatically land on the latter URL?

Good Morning. Questions are always welcome so feel free to ask.

That’s a good one too. There are several plugins out there that will let you add a redirection in WordPress. Here’s what I would suggest doing. Install the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin. It does a fantastic job of letting you set your titles and descriptions for search engines.

It also has a redirect feature built in. To use, first edit the page you’re wanting to redirect. With the plugin active, you’ll see a box below the main content box for SEO. Click on the advanced tab there and you’ll find a field for a “301 redirect.” Enter the URL you’d like to direct people to there and update your page.

That should cause the original page to seamlessly direct users to the new URL. If you run into trouble, let me know.

    Have a great weekend,
    Bill

Bill, you’re a blessing. I will most definitely be championing your business to my pastor friends seeking advice on websites.
