Podcast Feed Template doesn't exist

I have followed instructions carefully to set up a podcast feed page and they state:

“To set up a podcast feed for iTunes, go to Pages and select “Add New” again to create another new page. In the page template drop-down, choose “Podcast Feed” and publish your page. Unlike the archive, this page you will not want to include directly in your navigation. Instead, you’ll want to copy the URL to the page (the URL is right below the page title) and then submit that to iTunes inside the iTunes app. That will create your feed.”

But when I create the page and go to the drop down template menu there is not “Podcast Feed” selection. There is a custom feed but not Podcast Feed. Am I missing something?

Sorry for the confusion there. With version 2.0 we added support for a video podcast feed so the template names changed a bit. It looks like you’re running 1.2 so go with the one titled “Custom Feed” and that should be what you’re looking for.

I thought that might be it and it still would not work using “custom feed”. I just now finally got it to work. I found your post from 2012 on editing the podcast-feed-page.php and changing out the original code and replacing it with <itunes:category text=”Religion & Spirituality”> that you suggested and IT WORKS so far!

Now another question, can I update to version 2.0 without it messing up our whole site?

Glad you were able to get your feed working.

I would suggest updating to the current version. What you’ll want to do is download it from the right hand column on this page. Then unzip the epic.zip file and rename the folder epic-update and zip it back up.

Then install it like you would a new theme. That way you can revert back to the original if you need to for any reason.
