Pages with no parent redirecting to homepage

Hi –
Me again, sorry 🙂 Just had a weird thing start happening. All my pages with no parent (ie http://itsbigtime.org/afterparty http://itsbigtime.org/donation) no longer load, they just redirect to the homepage when I type in the address or click on a link.
The pages were working fine last week, so I don’t know if I inadvertently did an update or something to cause this, but any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi Katie,
That’s definitely not what we want. It could be a permalink issue. Those are the endings of the URL’s on your site. If something is off there, it could cause trouble like what you’re describing. Let’s do this:
- Go to the Settings section of your WordPress dashboard and click on permalinks.
- From the options there, choose default and then save your settings.
- Check your site now and make sure that all the pages can be visited. The URL endings will look funny, but we need to make sure this isn’t the issue.
- If you can visit all the pages, go back to the permalink settings and choose the “post name” option and save your changes. Then check the pages on your site and see if they can all be visited like they should.
Let me know what you turn up.
Take care,
Bill
Hi Bill –
By ‘default’ do you mean ‘plain’? I don’t see a ‘default’ option in the permalinks section.
Hi Katie,
It looks like they’ve change the word “default” to “plain” so let’s go with that.
Sorry about that,
Bill
Followed your steps, and it’s working again! 🙂 Thanks!
Glad to hear that did the trick Katie. Have a great week 🙂
