Optional Field on Staff Page

Hello Bill,

I am just building my new site at: http://owanorthamerica.org

I am setting up my teachers in the Staff section and I would like to use the “Optional Field Title” with “Optional Field Link” to add a link to this social network site: http://www.oneworldfriends.com/member/ashwin

I typed in the URL above in the “Optional Field Link” however once saved and clicked on it does not take you to that page. It just reloads the Staff page.

Any suggestions?

That one is a goof on my part. Here’s how to fix that:

1. Go to the appearance section and select edit to open up the theme editor.
2. From the list of files on your right, choose page-staff.php.
3. Scroll down to line 50 until you see this:

   
   option_url
   

4. Replace that with this:

   
   optional_url
   

5. Save your changes.
6. Next repeat that same edit in single-staff.php and taxonomy-staff-group.php

The optional field should work now. If you have any trouble, let me know.

I’ve also updated the theme to version 2.1.4 which includes this fix.
