I can’t get the link to work [Contact/Email Us]. It will open up a new tab but nothing else.

Jeff,

A mailto email link will open up in the user’s desktop email application if they have a default one installed. If they don’t, then nothing will really happen.

Typically you’ll want to avoid using mailto links and go with a contact form that generates an email to your address.

If you do want to include a mailto address, I would probably place it in a more typical text area so users can copy and paste it if they want to use it.

Oh. I guess I though I’ve had them open up before in my browser with Gmail. No big deal. Thanks for the enlightenment.

It can work that way, but with people using computers outside of their own person one it can not work as well. I’d go with a contact form and list your email address.
