I read this post that shows how to open the navigation onload: https://support.organizedthemes.com/forums/topic/open-navigation-onload/

I had some follow-up questions regarding this:

    1) How can you make it so the menu opens on load when the website is opened through a browser, but does NOT open on load when the website is opened through a mobile device?

    2) After clicking on a link in the menu, the navigation menu collapses. It is kind of annoying to have to keep clicking navigation then the menu link then the sub-menu link every single time. For the best use experience, the menu should stay open and highlighted to the page that you are currently on. Is there a way to do this with umami?

    Thanks again!
    Roman

    Hello Roman,

Instead of the post you mentioned above, you might try this one: https://support.organizedthemes.com/forums/topic/open-navigation-menu-by-default/?view=all#post-17925

It will replace the click to open menu on larger screens with a more traditional one, but still leave the click top open in place for mobile navigation.

It can be tricky picking navigation for a theme. Some sites have very small menus and having them open by default doesn’t take up too much room. Others have excessively large navigation menus which can be troublesome in a sidebar. I didn’t want the widgets pushed too far out of sight here so I went with click to open for the default.

    Take care,
    Bill

Hmm, that helps. It highlights what page I am on. However, at full browser screen the menu totally changes shape. Is it possible to keep the original shape but just keep it expanded? (sorry if I am a noob =( )

Can you send over the URL to your site so I can take a look for you?

    Thanks,
    Bill
