    Hi Bill,

This past Sunday we began recording sermons for podcasts. I was able to set up an RSS feed for podcasts just fine. However, when I try to submit the URL to iTunes I receive the message, “It appears the feed has already been submitted.” But I never manually submitted the feed.

I waited and tried again and received the same message. I waited a couple days and then changed the URL of the feed to /podcastfeed and made sure that the page type was set to “Podcast Audio Feed.” Upon my first submission of the new URL I received the same message again. Any ideas?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Harland,

Excellent question. I have seen that message when I updated the feed URL on my church’s site, but in that case I had actually submitted it previously.

I’m trying to pass the buck here, but I think Apple may be able to help out here a bit more than I can. They should be able to straighten that out for you.

Let me know if they can’t help out and we’ll see what we can uncover.

    Take care,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,

I finally heard back the from iTunes podcast support, here is what they sent me:

    Hello,

Please review and resolve the feed issues listed here:
    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nnyredemption.com%2Fpodcastfeed%2F

Am I doing something wrong when uploading? Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi Harland,

Curious as none of those would seem to have anything to do with “It appears the feed has already been submitted.” that you received earlier.

But you can take care of all of those. Go to the theme options page (it’s in the appearance section of your dashboard). The podcast tab there has several spots that you’ll need to fill in about your podcast. These are added to the feed that goes to iTunes.

Also make sure each published podcast episode has an audio file uploaded to it. If you don’t have an audio file for an podcast episode just yet, switch it from being published back to draft.

Try changing those things and see how it goes then.

Let me know if you run into trouble,
    Bill
