Hello Karl,
Good questions. Let’s tackle the staff pages first. You can have more than one. The way to go about that is by using staff groups. While you’re creating or editing a staff member, look in the right hand column and you’ll see a box labeled staff groups. These work like categories do for posts. You can create a staff group that corresponds to each “page” you’d like to have. Then assign your staff to the appropriate groups. That’s the first step.
The next one is to add these to your navigation menu. Go to the Appearance section and select Menus. In the top right hand corner, click on the Screen Options tab and make sure the box next to staff groups is checked. The close the screen options tab. Look down in the left hand column for the Staff Groups section. You can then add your staff groups to the navigation menu. That will create a “page” (really a dynamic archive) for each group.
For your landing page home page. Here’s what I would do. Create a page and use the full-page template. You can call it something like Landing (we don’t want to call theses Home). Instead of using the slides section that’s built into the home page, we’ll use the gallery format. You can select the format from the right hand column when editing a page. This format will take the first WordPress gallery that’s inserted into the page and turn it into the header slideshow.
That will take care of the slideshow for you.
For directing your visitors to different sections of your site, I would suggest creating images of uniform size, one for each section, and then inserting them into the content of the page. As you insert an image, WordPress gives you an option for the link. You would want to enter the URL to that section’s home page so the image directs to the correct place. Repeat that for all the sections. Then publish your page.
That should make a landing page for you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Bill
