    Hello Bill,

    I installed the RS theme and tried to add content to the widget and a photo gallery to the page, but nothing is showing up. The menu bar is also missing.
    Is there something I’m not doing?
    Thank you in advance
    Anna

    Here’s the homepage I’m trying to create:

    Anna,

    Sorry for the confusion. The home page and the inside pages/posts that have the “overlaying” format take their dimensions from the images that are shown.

    So on your site, it looks like you need to add at least one image to the slideshow in order to have the site pop-up so to speak. You can add a slideshow image by going to the Media section and selecting Slides. Adding a slide is pretty much like adding a post. The featured image of the slide will be the image shown on the front of the site.

    If you have any questions or trouble, let me know,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
    I do have another question.
    How do I disable comments and date stamps on some pages? I don’t want every page I create to have a blog feel.

    Thank you
    Anna

    Anna,

    Good question. WordPress loves to hide items in order to keep the interface “clean.” To keep comments from displaying, edit the page where you want to hide them. Then click the “Screen Options” tab in the top right hand corner. Check the box next to “Discussion” and that should add a box where you can check to allow comments and trackbacks.

    For the date stamp, let’s do this:

    1. Go to the Theme Options page and select the Styling tab.
    2. Scroll down to the Custom CSS box and paste this:

      .page p.time {
      	display: none;
      }

    3. Update your settings.

    That should hide the date/time from your pages.

    If you run into any trouble, let me know,
    Bill

    Bill,

    That was just what I needed!

    I have to say, being new to css and wordpress I really appreciate how accessible and helpful you are.
    Thank you again!
    Anna

    PS: I do have more questions about other functions, but I’ll save them for another time.

    Anna,

    Glad to hear those worked for you. I remember being new to all of this quite well and try to make things as straightforward for everyone as they learn.

    As you have other questions, just let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bill
