Hi Bill, I cancelled some descriptions and added some pics to this gallery http://cobybloemsma.com/my-paintings/ and now the gallery is no longer working. I know going through other topics here that it was wrong to load the new pics to the library first and then to ad them to the gallery. My question now , do I need to upload each and every pic again to create a new working gallery ? My concern is not so much on the pics but more on the description, but if it’s the only way I will do it
May 4, 2015 at 09:15 #29395Bill RobbinsModeratorGood Morning Frank,
Great question. Before uploading the images again, you might try one of the plugins that lets you adjust what images in the library are attached to. There are a few in WordPress.org directory that might do the trick, though I haven’t tested them. Here are the ones I would try:
- Unattach and Re-attach Media (https://wordpress.org/plugins/unattach-and-re-attach-attachments/)
- Attachments (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-better-attachments/) (
The gallery format in Responsive Visual creates a loop of the images that are attached to that page/post and shows them in the slideshow area. The easiest way to attach an image to a page is to upload it while editing the page, but I think you’ll be able to change that with one of these plugins.
If you have any trouble, let me know.
Have a great week,

May 5, 2015 at 03:44 #29441Frank VoceParticipantDoesn’t seem to work, though …
May 5, 2015 at 06:10 #29446Bill RobbinsModeratorI had hoped one of those would let you attach the images without uploading them again. If they won’t then that’s the only way to include the images in the slideshow. Sorry about that Frank.
May 5, 2015 at 08:48 #29460Frank VoceParticipantHi Bill, something is not working well , I created a new page with a new gallery and the gallery does not work. Here is the new page : http://www.cobybloemsma.com/test/
May 5, 2015 at 08:50 #29461Bill RobbinsModeratorIt looks like the gallery is being added via WordPress’ create a gallery feature and then inserted into the page’s content. What you’ll want to do is upload the images while editing the page and then don’t insert them into the page’s content. Then select the gallery format from the list on the right.
The format is the trigger for the theme to swap the layout to the slideshow and pull in the images uploaded on the page.
Let me know if that gives you any trouble,
BillMay 5, 2015 at 09:40 #29465Frank VoceParticipantI’m back, Bill, still with problems. Maybe I was not clear my gallery should not be a slideshow like in the example but a lightbox coming up to see all the pics. This is how it was before, I’m pretty sure
May 5, 2015 at 09:44 #29468Bill RobbinsModeratorGotcha. It looks like the images in the gallery are set to open the attachment page. What you want to do is set the links for the gallery to open the file URL. That will cause the lightbox to open the images themselves instead of a new page.
If you’ll edit the gallery and look for the drop-down menu that sets what the thumbnails link to you should be able to change that without having to make any other changes to the gallery you’ve created.
Give a that a shot,
BillMay 5, 2015 at 10:02 #29469Frank VoceParticipantIf I edit the gallery I have 3 options for the thumbnails : Attachment page, media file and none. Right now everything is set to media but the gallery does not show up …
May 5, 2015 at 10:11 #29471Bill RobbinsModeratorLooks like all is set to the media file which is the one you want. It also looks like this is an early version of the theme. It had an incompatibility with WordPress 3.6 that requires an update to the theme. Since this version is before it had dashboard updates, you’ll need to do it manually.
Download the current version from our support site (there’s a link in the right hand column). Then install it like you would a new WordPress theme. You may have to assign your navigation menu again to the theme’s location after you activate the update.
That should take care of the javascript conflict and let the lightobx images open up again.
May 5, 2015 at 10:32 #29475Frank VoceParticipantThank you Bill, got it ….just need to check now if I can simply add some new pics to the gallery .
