    Hi Bill,

I just updated WordPress, and now two of my pages are not showing correctly. They are both under the gallery setting:

    http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/media/
    http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/gallery/

I also now cannot access the editing settings for these 2 pages:

    http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/cast/
    http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/crew/

I am receiving this error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 256 bytes) in /home/vivienne/public_html/wp-includes/post.php on line 1920

    Thanks for your help,
    Marjorie.

    Hello Marjorie,

There is a javascript conflict between WordPress 3.6+ and the version of the theme you’re running. There are three ways you can address that:

    1. You can update the theme. This is probably the best option going forward. To do that, click the theme link on the right hand side of this page to download it. Once it’s finished, unzip the responsive-visual.zip file that you’ll have. Then change the name of the folder to responsive-update and then zip it back up again. You can then install it as a new theme. It’ll add in quite a few bug fixes and also enable automatic theme updates for the future.

    2. If you’d rather not update the theme, you can turn off the built-in lighbox galleries that are included with the theme. That’s actually where the conflict is. If you’ll disable them, in the theme options that should also remove the trouble.

    3. If you’d rather not update the theme and you need the lightbox effect, then look in the right hand column of this support site for a box labeled WordPress 3.6 Upgrade. There’s a link in it for a plugin that you can use to roll the conflicted bit of javascript back to how it was in WordPress 3.5 which should also take care of it.

If you have any trouble, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I forgot to mention the memory error. Most likely after the update, WordPress is taking a bit more memory to run than your web host has allocated to your site. I would ask them to increase your memory and that should take care of it for you. There are some ways that you could find from Google to increase it yourself, but those may shut you out of your site, so I would start by asking your host if they can do that for you.

    Hope that helps,
    Bill

Thanks Bill. I reinstalled the theme and things seem to be working well.

I still can’t seem to set the gallery correct, specifically this page:

    http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/gallery/

I have uploaded images onto the page, but they are not showing.

I have attached the settings I made. Please let me know what I need to fix.

    Thanks,
    Marjorie.

    Hey Marjorie,

Try disabling the jQuery update plugin. It’ll cause trouble with the updated version of the theme. See if that won’t help out.

If you still have trouble there, can you email a login to your site to support@organizedthemes.com so I can take a closer look for you?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Thanks for sending over the login. I took a look and it appears that WordPress is not processing the image sizes when an image is uploaded. Looking at the source code of that page, one of the slide images is 3008 pixels wide by 2000 pixels tall (http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/DSC_0040.jpg). It should have been resized down to 960 by 620. It could be related to the out of memory error you had earlier as resizing the images can take a bit of memory to process.

I may have found a workaround for you. To add your images, go to the Media section and select Add New. You can upload them there. Once they have uploaded, click on Media > Library. You’ll notice a column labeled “Uploaded to.” This will list the page that any image is attached to. If it wasn’t uploaded to a page/post, there will be a link there you can click to attach it to a page.

I gave that a try and created this page http://www.mynameisvivienne.com/sample/.

It may work out a bit more easily to resize the images before uploading as that will cut down on the amount of memory required too.

Let me know if I can help,
    Bill
