    Hello friends,

I can not see a way to organize three different menus, food, drinks and wines. The all seam to mix with each other.

Can we create more menu sections like the “Food” one?

    Any suggestions?

    Hello Santiago,

Great question. The way to organize the food items is with what we call Menu Groups. These work the same way that categories do for posts. When you’re creating a food item, look in the right hand column for a box labeled Menu Groups. You can create new groups there and use the check boxes to add that item to the appropriate group or groups.

The idea is to create menu groups that correspond to the sections of your actual menu. You could have one for appetizers, one for salads, one for entrees, one for red wines, one for desserts and so on. Just create menu groups for each section you plan on creating in your menu.

Once you’ve created some food items and assigned them to the appropriate menu group you can then add them to the front of your site. There are three different ways to add them. You can add a menu group to the navigation menu directly. That will create a “page” with just the items in that group.

The next option is to create a new page and use the “Full Menu” page template. This one lists all of your menu groups with the items in them all on one page.

The last option is to use “shortcodes” to display your menu groups inside any page or post. To use that just enter this where you’d like to have a list of your menu items appear:

    [menu group="burgers"]

Just replace burgers with the “slug” of the menu group you’d like to display. You can find the slug by going to the Food section and selecting “Menu Groups.” The slug will be listed next to each group.

The shortcode method would allow you to create more complicated menu pages adding just the menu groups you want to have together on the same page.

If you have any questions about setting up your menu, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bill
