ParticipantHi,
When sharing my site, it shows the default slider image as the preview, the one from the demo content. How do I change it to show what is in my slider?
Would also be helpful to know the proper place to change the caption headline and body text as well.
Thank you,
MarkSeptember 17, 2014 at 11:32 #22466Mark McKay

ParticipantHello Mark,
Great question there. I believe Yoast’s SEO plugin chooses the “featured image” of the page/post that’s being displayed as the set share image. The picture you’re seeing there is set to be the featured image on the home page in the demo.
If you replace that with the image from the slide (or any other image) you’d like to use, that should do it.
For the caption headline and body text, if you’ll let me know what you’d like to change, I’ll show you how to go about it.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Bill,
It did not work. Funny thing is, there was no image set in Yoast. I set the image I want, but it didn’t take effect. Somehow the default image is overriding Yoast.
As for the text, I want it to say:
PEMF Global Health – Leaders in PEMF Therapy and Technology
The iMRS and Omnium1 are the culmination of more than 15 years of experience in PEMF and energy medicine. Engineered by Swiss Bionic Solutions, the world leader in personal PEMF systems.
I am pretty good with cod, if you can tell me which file to edit, I can get into it.
Also, can you tell me what file controls the featured blog post on the homepage? I can’t figure out where it is so I can make changes to it. See attached.

ParticipantHey Mark,
So changing the featured image of the home page didn’t change the Facebook image. When you’re editing a page, look for the WordPress SEO box. There’s a tab there for “social” where you can specify the image to use. Give that a shot and see if it won’t swap it out for you then.
For the text. Are you saying you want this to be what appears when someone shares your page? If that’s the case it can also be entered in on that same tab along with the image.
You can add posts to your home page. There is a featured post widget that you can drag to one of the home page sections. It’ll display your posts there.
If you run into trouble, let me know.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Bill,
So I changed the featured image on the “home” page by selecting it as the featured image and by setting the image in Yoast on the “home” page.
I also went in and set the featured image in the general Yoast plugin settings.
Then I deleted the Firewood.jpg which is what is showing up when posting to Facebook.
In spite of all of this, the Firewood.jpg shows up as the featured image on Facebook.
Go ahead and try it, paste this link in Facebook, and you will see – http://pemfglobal.com
I have know idea how this can be. Any idea?
Thank you,

ParticipantI thought maybe the problem was Facebook’s cache, so I tried this:
Facebook treats each url as unique and caches the page based on that url, so if you want to share the latest url the simplest solution is to add a query string with the url being shared. In simple words just add ?v=1 at the end of the url. Any number can be used in place of 1,
It did not work.
I am at a total loss.

ParticipantHey Mark,
I think it’s probably something with Facebook’s cache. There is now no reference to the firewood.jpg file anywhere in the code for your home page, unlike before. So Facebook has to pull it from someplace. The only spot they could get it would be from cache. Check again on Monday and see what comes up.
Take care,
Bill -
