Hi Bill,
I’ve been getting the following error message lately:
Background Request Blocked
A background request to WordPress was just blocked for the URL /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. If this occurred as a result of an intentional action, you may consider whitelisting the request to allow it in the future.
I’m not sure I understand what this means.
Do you know what’s going on?
Fred
Hi Fred,
Ajax is method of communicating with a web server without reloading a page. An example of that in the WordPress admin would be viewing the post list and adding categories and tags to existing posts. They are added but the page is not refreshed. Those changes are made via an ajax request.
It’s possible that something on the server or within WordPress is blocking that. If you have any security features or plugins, they would be the most likely places to start looking. Blocking items is typically a feature of those services that can sometimes have unintended consequences.
Take care,
Bill
