I want to build a custom homepage that goes with the rest of my site. (www.broken-promises.org)
It will be similar to the existing one, however…

So, rather than use the home template, I guess I need to create a custom page called home.

I thought I’d clone the home template and change it calling the clone front page. On top would be the Ditty News Ticker with a custom size and color.

Next would be the existing slider, with a custom text box underneath that would contain the non-profit’s mission.

Under that, I’d replace the existing boxes with various blog category listings using the Display Posts Shortcode plugin.

Finally, I’d like to keep all the home page template’s existing widget, footer, etc. capabilities.

Don’t have a clue where to start.

    Not a programmer. Help.

    Rick

    Hey Rick,

Thanks for the list. Sometimes I can take on some custom work, but at the moment, I’m snowed under and most likely will be for the foreseeable future.

I do have a couple of options for you. I would highly recommend Randy Anderson (http://www.randyanderson.org) and Holli Graham (http://clickfirecreative.com) as two good and reliable developers who could help you out with this. They both do good work and I know them personally.

You could also use Tweaky which is a service that lets freelancers bid on work on your site. It’s backed by a money back guarantee and is typically economical.

I’d love to be able to turn this around for you, but being realistic, January and February have filled up very quickly.

    Thanks,
    Bill
