Hi Jerry,

You’ll need to sign up for an account with MailChimp (http://mailchimp.com). It’s a newsletter service that is quite good and free for lists up to 2,500 addresses, or 12,000 emails sent per month. The newsletter spot in the theme that’s in the contact widget is built to work with that service.

Once you’ve signed up, MailChimp will guide you a bit through setting things up on their end. You’ll need to create a list that your visitors will be added to. That list will have an ID number. You’ll need to copy that and add it to the field for it in the theme options’ identity tab.

The second thing you’ll need from inside your MailChimp account is an API key. You’ll be able to get that from inside your account section in their dashboard. Create and copy an API key and paste it into the theme options next to the list ID you added earlier.

Now you can take subscribers. In the widget, the title of the newsletter is the trigger to add the sign up box, so make sure you add some text there.

Your newsletters will be created inside MailChimp and sent from there. That’s the best way to go about sending newsletters.

MailChimp has an RSS campaign option. You can use it to send out posts to your subscribers.
