child theme

Need help setting up a child theme. When I activate my child theme it is missing the menu.

Good Morning Haynes and Renee,

Excellent question there. Most likely the navigation menu needs to be assigned to the theme location after you activate the child theme.

To do that go to the appearance section in your dashboard and choose menus. Click on the locations tab. Here you can select your menu for the theme’s menu location and save your changes. Hopefully that will take care of it for us.

WordPress considers a child theme to be a new theme and typically you have to assign menus again when you activate a new theme.

Let me know if that doesn’t do the trick.
