Changing from Foundation to Grassroots

Hi Bill,

We’re currently using your FOUNDATION Theme but just bought Grassroots (we also bought Elite for our biz). We’re excited about giving our site a whole new look — but have We’ve never “swapped” one theme out for another…Please advise. Thanks.

Hello Lori,

I appreciate the business. Great question too. There are a few different ways to go about this. You’ll likely need to adjust your content a bit and find some images that fit the new themes a bit better size wise than the ones currently in use.

One popular way of doing that is to install WordPress in a sub-folder on your site. That way you can import your current content, install the new theme and make sure everything is set up nicely. Then when you’re ready, you can swap out the sub-folder installation for your old one. There are two files you’ll have to move on your server and two settings to change inside WordPress and you’ll be done. It’;s a good way to go about making the change.
