Hi Bill,
Quick question this morning.
How do I have my blog posts listed as summaries on my Blog page, rather than showing the whole post?

Thanks!

Great question. There are two options for you. You can use what’s called the “more” tag to set a break point in each post so that it displays the content up to that point and then adds a link to the full post. You can find out how that works at http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/.
The other option is to set the archive pages to use what’s called an excerpt. That will show the first 55 words of your post or a specially crafted excerpt that you place in the excerpt box (it’s just below the main content box).
Here’s how to make that change:
- Go to the Appearance section and select Edit.
- From the list of files on your right, choose index.php and look for this spot:
<?php the_content(); ?>
- Replace that with this:
- Save your changes.
That will make all your posts display the excerpt with a link just below it.
Let me know if you have any questions or trouble.
Have a great week,
Bill
Thanks Bill!
Sooo easy to add that “More Tag”!
Huge help!
