    Hi!

    We have epic church installed- and a static front page. There is a box to sign up for our newsletter under the location information. When an email is put in the box, and click join, the page reloads and it says “API key can not be blank” right above the box to sign up. Even if it was working- I’m not entirely sure where it would be going since I don’t recall ever setting that up! Help? TIA!

    Hello Lindsay,

    Great question. What the widget is looking for is an api key to connect the sign up box to your MailChimp account. You can get the API key and the List ID number from inside your MailChimp account and then add them to the theme options page. That will connect everything so that your visitors can subscribe like they expect to.

    If you’d rather not go with MailChimp, no worries. Go to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard and edit that widget. Take out the title for the newsletter subscription and that will remove the form to keep it from displaying.
