    I want to add a picture on our front page to advertise an event we have coming up. You mentioned using the series widget to do so. How do I do that? When I add the current series widget below it doesn’t give me the option to edit it? As well I would like to overlay it with text saying register. And then have it go to a link when you click the image?

    Please advise.

    Use a plugin called Simple Image Widget (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-widget/) for that. It’ll let you insert an image and link it to any URL that you’d like to.

    I added the widget however I cannot see it on the widget page so I can add to the original home widgets
    Please advise

    Did you activate the plugin after installing it? If you did, look carefully through the list. They are easy to miss.
