Add Blog Roll Category to Home Page

Hi Bill

This may be a very simple answer – however I wasnt able to find it on the forums or searching google for some time.

How can I add a list of blog entries from a single category to the main page – under the videos? Is there a shortcode that will add the most recent posts in a category?

I’d like for it to be in the style that MoonRise uses default – because its very nice.

Hello Joshua,

Great question. You can choose between showing your latest posts or a static page on your front page, but what about when you really need both?

It’s possible by using a plugin to add a list of posts from a category to any other page/post. WP Beginner has an article at http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-list-category-posts-in-a-wordpress-post-or-page-with-shortcode/ that can show you how to do that with a plugin and a shortcode. You can use that to add your category to your home page.

Is there any way to make it so its the same beautiful display as the default for united? The list is pretty bland – just literally a checklist.

Hey Joshua, there’s at least one other plugin that will display posts via a shortcode. You might try http://wordpress.org/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/

Let me know how that works.
