Hello. I haven’t added the theme to the site yet. I would like to use the demo content to get a kick-start on the theme transition but wonder how uploading the demo content would impact the current content. Advice?

Hello Ann,

Thank you for your business. Great question too. The answer somewhat depends. You could import the sample content, but since it’s a live site your visitors would see the sample content mixed in with your existing content. It could be confusing until all the sample content is changed or removed.

I would probably skip the sample content since you’re working with an existing site. One thing you could do is duplicate your existing site into a sub-directory on your server. Then import the sample content into the copy of your site and make your changes there. Then when you’re ready you can switch the sub-folder installation to be the real site. That lets you get things set up and keeps your visitors from seeing things while the renovation is in progress.
