I am in the process of migrating an old website from Weebly to your Umami theme on WordPress. I am struggling with how to overlay text onto the photographs on my home page. (For an example on your own site, please refer to the first non-profit example under Themes.) In my case, I am using a restaurant theme with a sidebar menu so I would like the text to be centered over the photo and not obstruct the sidebar.

Thanks for your help. I have three more projects in the near future and I love your themes enough that I am giving serious consideration to buying a long term membership!

    Good Morning Rashel,

Excellent question. So you’re looking to add text over the background image similar to how this page http://www.organizedthemes.com/non-profit-themes/ has text on top of an image of children. Just wanted to make sure I was picturing the same thing that you are. Let me know and we’ll go from there.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Good Morning!

That is exactly what I want to do, but I need to add one last piece of information: I have three different images and I would like to add different text on each image.

Thanks, Bill. It’s good to know you are close by!

    Hi Rashel,

Perfect. To be honest the most straightforward way to do that would be to add the text to the image directly. You could use a photo editor to add those in or an online service like Canva (https://www.canva.com). With Umami, if I was adding text on top of the background images, that’s how I would go about it. If you need any help let me know.

    Thanks,
    Bill
