Is there a way to use the homepage template on multiple pages with different content? I would like to use the Home Box widget with image backgrounds to improve our ways to give page. I would like to have multiple pages have the look and feel of our homepage. Is that possible? I saw in a previous forum post that it could be done and that the JP Widget Visibility plug in would help. I installed that plug-in but that seems to only help with sidebars, not the page template.

Hey Bill, I installed the Widgetize Pages Light plug in to get widgets added to additional pages. However, the Home Box images do not display. Any ideas?

    Aaron,

Excellent question. The JP Widget Visibility plugin adds a “visibility” button to each widget. When you click on that button, it lets you specify where that widget is either visible or hidden depending on how you want to set that up.

What that can let you do is create multiple pages using the home page template. You would just set some of the widgets to be visible on the home page and others to be visible on whichever page you’d like.

It does not duplicate any of the options in the theme options page for the home page though. So you wouldn’t be able to have separate colors and backgrounds between the pages.

Here’s another way you might approach this. You could use the Page Builder plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/) which lets you replace the default WordPress content area with a builder that lets you break the content up into rows and columns. Inside these rows and columns you can add widgets, right inside the page. You can combine that with the Black Studio TinyMCE plugin which adds a visual editor widget that has the editor from the page/post screen in a widget.

Instead of using the home block widgets, you could create rows with two columns in them. In one side you could insert an image into a visual editor widget and in the other column, add your text with another widget. In a way, the home block widget exists to make this type of layout possible before I had discovered this plugin. Since then, I’ve made several themes that are designed to work with this particular plugin because it is so useful.

Let me know if you have any questions or trouble.

    Have a great weekend,
    Bill
