I am very happy with the selfie theme and I would like to have the same kind of buttons as in the demo:
Facebook, Instagram …
What is the best way to achive that?
Many Greetings,
Oliver
March 11, 2014 at 18:58 #17824Bill RobbinsModeratorHello Oliver,
Thank you for your business first of all. Great question. Those links in the theme are added with a widget called “Social Network Links.” To add it, go to the Appearance section and select Widgets. On the left will be the available widgets. On the right will be the Default Sidebar.
Click on the Social Network Links widget and drag it into the Default Sidebar. That will open up an options panel for the widget. To add an icon and link, simply add the URL to your profile on any of the networks you’d like to include in the widget. Once you’ve added them, click save at the bottom of the panel.
That should add in your social icons to the sidebar. If you have any questions or trouble, let me know.
Thanks again,

many thanks for your fast and detailed help, I really appreciate it.
Now the only problem that is left is, that it puts my website name in front of links for example: http://www.example.com http://www.facebook.com/example. But I guess, this has something to do with my dns or plesk settings and nothing with wordpress. But in case you have seen this before, I would appreciate it if you point me in the right direction.
Again many thanks for your great theme, in combination with your great written descriptions and videos I was able to greate a good looking page in no time, totally worth it.
Many Greetings,
Oliver
March 12, 2014 at 08:37 #17847Bill RobbinsModeratorI’m glad that helped out. I’d be glad to take a look at your links. Any chance you could post the URL to where you’re working with the theme so I can take a closer look? If you don’t want it publicly visible you can mark the reply as private and I’ll be the only one who can see it.
Thanks,

I totally understand. Just to make sure, for each of the links in the social media icons, do you have the http:// before the rest of the address? Often times when that’s missing you’ll end up with the website URL before the Facebook one.
The other common situation where that happens is when there is a link earlier in the page’s code that isn’t closed. That will also cause that.
You might look for those as possible explanations.
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the theme and I do appreciate the recommendations too.
Let me know if I can help,
BillMarch 12, 2014 at 09:27 #17850Oliver WagnerParticipantDear Bill,
Doh, that was it, forgot to put the http: in front of the external link.
I feel stupid now, but I am very glad for your help could have cost me days.
Many thanks,
Oliver
