    Hi,

I have been able to add on an “event” page to my menu but I’m not sure how to connect the content page to it? I’m creating the page and don’t see it listed under the pages-parent drop down or anywhere else. How do I do this?

    Thanks!

    Hello Jennifer,

Typically what you’ll do is create a page and then publish it. From there it should show in the navigation menu builder (Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard) where you can add it to your navigation menu. From there the content on the page will be just whatever is written in the main content area of that page when you’re editing it. Most sites don’t use the parent/child relationship for pages since it keeps the URL’s shorter. I believe a page will have to be published in order to appear in that list. It’ll also have to actually be a page in order to appear. Some plugins use other content types for “pages” so those will not appear in the parent/child drop-down.

For working with events, I would suggest using The Events Calendar plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/). It adds a new content type for events that you can use to list out all of your upcoming events. It will make managing your events much easier than continually editing a page that has them on there. That’s what I would do if I was creating an events page on a site.

Let me know if I can help,
    Bill
