When uploading mov files, I notice when the video is viewed and not played, it shows as a black rectangular box with the play triangle in the middle. Is there a way to have it show a screen capture, similarly to Youtube? Thank you.

    Hi Tim,

Good question. There are some available options when you’re inserting a video into a page or post to customize it. There is an article in the Codex at https://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode that can give you more details.

You’ll probably want to use the video shortcode. It has an option for a “poster” element where you can add in the URL to an image you’d like to have as a placeholder. You can find the URL to any image in your media library by clicking on that image in the media library. The URL will be in the pop up that comes up on your right.

    Hope that helps out,
    Bill
